I really love Ann Cleeves's writing. Every book of hers that I have read has a believable plot, characters I can care about, and good writing. The author knows her craft. If I were a teacher (and I am) giving her a grade, she'd get an A. I know by the end of the first chapter whether an author's writing is good or painfully bad and irritating.
